lapstack
Free software · MIT

Free. All of it.

lapstack costs nothing, in every form: the browser app, the desktop application, the command-line tool and the Lightroom plugin, with every capability on. The source is published under the MIT license, so that stays true whatever becomes of us.

What free means here

Everything

No tiers, no caps Free

Full-quality fusion at full resolution, no watermark, no frame limit, sixteen-bit TIFF and linear DNG, depth and confidence export, retouching, batch, project files, the GPU paths. There is one version of lapstack and this is it.

Any use

Personal, commercial, institutional

A product studio, a museum collection, a lab producing published figures and a hobbyist with a garden are under the same terms. There is no commercial tier and no honor system, because there is nothing to pay for.

No key

Nothing to register, nothing phoning home

No account, no key, no activation, no telemetry. The programs run on your own machine and make no network request of their own; your images never leave it.

Open source

Yours to change MIT

The source is under the MIT license: use it, change it, redistribute it, build it into something of your own, commercially or not, keeping the copyright notice. The legal page has the license in plain words.

Why there is no price

This page used to describe planned Pro, Business and Student seats, with a free tier below them. They are not coming. On 9 October 2026 lapstack was released as free software under the MIT license, and the plan for paid seats went with it: nothing that was going to cost money costs money, and nothing that was going to be capped is capped. The browser app was always free and uncapped; now everything is.

Support lapstack

One person makes lapstack. If it has earned its keep, you can support it with a contribution of any size, through a payment page run by Stripe. It buys nothing and changes nothing — there is no key to issue and no feature to unlock — and a contribution made by mistake is returned within fourteen days on request, no reason needed. The same button is in the app's toolbar.
